At our meeting on 1/15/20, Wastewater Collection Superintendent Angel Deleon educated us on the problems with “flushable” wipes and how it costs taxpayers a lot of money for them to clear out the clogged lines. He said it costs approximately $250/hr and some jobs can take about a month of work to clear. He also discussed the various items they find in the storm drains including bikes and construction materials. Additionally, he explained how the grease that gets discarded clogs our sewer pipes and offered a solution for those looking to discard their grease.
